Hanna Yankuta: Capturing the spirit of the times and not getting lost in the world

Hanna Yankuta (* 1984) is a Belarusian writer, translator and literary scholar. She is the author of the poetry project Geology/Constitution (2022), five children’s books, including a series about the cat Šprot, and the novel Marta and her Dream of Snow. She has written numerous articles and essays on literature and feminism. She translates from English and Polish; she has translated the works of Jane Austen, Kazuo Ishiguro, Sally Rooney and others into Belarusian. She translates for the poetry edition Poets of the Planet (Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, Bolesław Leśmian, Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, John Keats, E. A. Poe and others). She is the laureate of the Maksim Bahdanovič Debut award (2013). She has twice participated in the scholarship program of the Polish Minister of Culture, Gaude Polonia, (2012, 2021).
