Karel Steigerwald: A century & the comedies

Born in 1945 in Vacíkov. A playwright, film and television screenwriter, author of radio plays, journalist. He studied dramaturgy at FAMU, then was employed at the Barrandov Film Studio and Krátký film, after 1989 a political commentator, among others, in Lidové noviny and MF Dnes.
Author of numerous plays, such as Horáková × Gottwald (2006), Políbila Dubčeka (She Kissed Dubček, 2008), Má vzdálená vlast (My Distant Homeland, 2012), Cena facky (The Price of a Slap, 2014) and Liduschka (Baarová) (2019). Some of the plays were published in collections Čas utopie. Tři grotesky ze špatné doby (The Time of Utopia. Three Farces from Bad Times, 2012) and Devět komedií z konce století (Nine Comedies from the End of the Century, 2005).
