Martin Reiner: The poet and the city

Born in 1964 in Brno. Until 2006, his surname was Pluháček. He spent several years in military schools, then went through various professions. From 1992 to 2005, he headed the Petrov publishing house, where three hundred and fifty titles were published, mainly original Czech fiction. Since 2006, he has headed the Druhé město (The Other City) publishing house. He is an important organizer of local cultural life (slam poetry, Poezie bez hranic, Loď literátů, Neon, etc.). Currently, he is the director of the Brno Jewish Museum Malý Mehrin.

He pursues journalism, poetry, short prose and novels, for example Lucka, Maceška a já (Lucy, Maceška and I, 2009) and Básník (The Poet, 2014). In 2024, he reviewed his life and work to date in a book interview with Milan Ohnisko (Reiner. Interview with Milan Ohnisko).
