Miroslav Hlaučo: Great narratives of the past

Miroslav Hlaučo was born in 1967 in Bobrovec, Slovakia, he has lived in Prague since 1990. He studied clinical pharmacy at Comenius University in Bratislava and directing at DAMU and film science at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. He works as a researcher in the field of cell biotechnology development.

For his first novel Letnice (Pentecost, 2024), he received the Book of the Year and Litera Debut of the Year awards in the Magnesia Litera competition. “A novel with imaginatively used elements of magical realism refers to great narratives of the past from the Odyssey to Don Quixote to Tristram Shandy,” states the book’s description.
