Raafat Hekmat (* 1989) is a Syrian poet and short story writer. In 2020, he won the Sharjah Arab Cultural Award for his short story collection As If I Were Dreaming. His latest book Ten Minutes Late to the World (2023) was published by Dar Al Nahda Al Arabia. Hekmat’s writings are featured in three anthologies: The Museum of Rubble – Fear and Isolation (2019), a collection of poems published by Dar Ninawa Damascus, Witnesses from Its People: Stories of the Pandemic and Decameron – We Narrate for Survival, both published by Dar Al’an Jordan in 2020. In 2022, his book In Fear of the Hunter was published in Egypt.
Raafat Hekmat is regular contributor to the Lebanese website Daraj, where he writes about Syrian issues under a pseudonym. In September 2023, he arrived in Stockholm, where he is an ICORN resident for the period 2023–2025.
