Tereza Boučková: The house, the life, the year and the run
 – Czechia

Tereza Boučková was born in 1957 in Prague. After graduating from high school, she signed Charter 77. She then worked as a cleaner, postal worker, caretaker or record packer.

In her literary work, she chronicles the life of her own family, featuring her father Pavel Kohout, her adopted Romany children, her mother’s death – or a healing cycling trip to Bhutan. Her prose has traces of journalism, mostly reports and feuilletons, but also journal-like qualities. She is a journalist, and she writes for theatre and film, but the most important are her novels and short stories, for example, Dům v Matoušově ulici (House on Matoušova Street, 2024), Život je nádherný (Life is Beautiful, 16), Rok kohouta (Year of the Rooster, 2008) and Indiánský běh (Indian Run, 1990).
